This Cairns tour is the best tour for experiencing a great range of native Australian tropical wildlife in its' habitat-"an unforgettable natural experience". The tour heads inland and up to the Atherton Tablelands via the Gilles Highway south of Cairns Australia. We visit a scenic crater Lake and a magnificent strangler fig tree both of which are great birding areas for short walks and for afternoon tea before platypus viewing (we see platypus 95% of the time), dinner and then venture into the permit controlled National Parks to spot a wonderful array of native wildlife that can include rare possums that do not survive in captivity, Flying Foxes, Bandicoots, Boyd's Forest Dragons, Snakes, Musky Rat Kangaroos, Betongs, Pademelons, Frogs, Tree Kangaroos, Owls and in the wet season we see luminous fungi and glow worms as well. We do not feed or encourage the wildlife in any way merely observe it in the best interests of the environment. Our experienced and knowledgeable tour guides help guests learn to spot wild Australian iconic wildlife in this tropical rainforest tour and delight all with their enthusiasm for the critters and environment. We have supper before returning to Cairns at approx midnight.
