Captain Cook Cruises offers the following sample itinerary for your 7 Night Cairns to Townsville adventure.
Day 1: 4:00pm: Board your the Coral Princess for a 5:00pm departure from Cairns.
Cruise beautiful Trinity Bay as you explore your surrounding on the small cruise
ship. Then join your fellow travellers and the crew on the top deck for a glass of champagne.
Day 2: Discover historical Cooktown this morning, with an option to visit Cooktown's
historic museum. Then in the afternoon, experionce an uninhabited remote Great
Barrier Reef island and be amazed by the myriad of colourful marine life and
coral gardens as you cruise above them in the comfort of a gladd bottom boat.
Day 3: Start the day moored beside gorgeous Lizard Island. If
you are feeling energetic then a guided walk to Cooks Look on the peak of the
island or take part on an unforgettable SCUBA dive accompanied by a Dive
Instructor. If you prefer to relax on the beach or join a glass bottom boat tour
with a Marine Bioligist to explain the marine environment. Then in the afternoon cruise to Ribbon Reef No 9.
Day 4: Today, your Capotain Cook Cruise takes you to two of the most
amazing sections of the reef, Ribbon Reef No 3 and Rachel Carson Reef. Coral gardens and marine life
is waiting for you to explore, with guided snorkelling and comfortable glass
bottom boat tours.
Day 5: Free unstructured time in Cairns will make the morning fly by
as you explore this comipolitan city. Reboard your cruise ship for an 11:00am departure,
and a delicious lunch. Then sail to the outer Great Barrier Reef, stopping at Thetford Reef and Sudbury Cay.
Day 6: This morning we explore this fabulous outer Great Barrier Reef
area including Coates or Nathan Reef. Take a close up look at sea cucumbers, colourful starfish and other marine life
which cannot be seen in any other part of the world. Then in the afternoon, Dunk Island Resort
is the destination with plenty of time to enjoy it's facilities including guided
rainforest walks, world class resort cocktail bars & pools.
Day 7: Cruise further amongst the picturesque Family Group of Islands
this morning. The Captain Cook Cruise vessel passes by towering island cliffs and mangroves of the Hinchinbrook Channel,
then arrives at Pelorus, for a delicious beach BBQ. After lunch you can explore
this tropical island's rainforest on a guided nature walk. Or take part in
snorkelling in the reef, just metres off the beach. In the evening, relax with
the crew and your fellow travellers on the top deck as the small cruise ship
travels through the Palm Islands in preparation of it's final night cruising the Great Barrier Reef.
Day 8: This morning cross Halifax Bay, passing by Magnetic Island before arriving in Townsville at 10:00am.
