Day 1 Cairns - Lakefield National Park (LD)
Your Cairns Cape York tour starts with an early departure from Cairns over the Great Dividing Range and into "Quinkan Country" and for those with reasonable fitness plus suitable footwear a chance to climb Split Rock where you will find ancient Aboriginal Rock Art. The afternoon will find the safari arriving into the Lakefield National Park which is your overnight campsite.
Day 2 Coen - Archer River (BLD)
Waterlily covered billabongs, wildlife and a great variety of birdlife in Lakefield National Park this morning. Visit the historic telegraph station of Musgrave before travelling on to Coen and the Archer River. Continue on to Merluna, a remote family operated cattle station, where we camp tonight.
Day 3 Weipa - Wenlock River (BLD)
The township of Weipa is know for its Bauxite Mine and this morning you have a chance to tour the mine for a small additional cost. After lunch your Cape York safari will hit the tracks again in a northward direction and travel through Batavia Downs Station to your overnight camp at Moreton Telegraph Office located on Wenlock River
Day 4 Wenlock River - Eliot (Twin/Indian Head) Falls (BLD)
Lots of traveling today will be done in 4wd mode as the tour will have action, adventure and fun heading along the Telegraph Track. There will be some bumps and humps but also lots of sights for the cameras. Tonights camp is at the beautiful Eliot (Twin / Indian Head) Falls where there will be plenty of time before dark for a swim in the falls after a hard day on your 4wd tour.
Day 5 Eliot (Twin/Indian Head) Falls - Cape York (BLD)
Rise early and experience the pleasure of the Cape York Peninsula at sunrise. You may even want to take another swim in the spring fed pools of the Eliot Falls before the tour breaks camp. Northward bound again the safari crosses the might Jardine River before arriving late in the afternoon at the top of Australia where you will set up camp on the shores of the Torres Strait for the next three nights.
Day 6 Cape York - Cape York (BLD)
Today is a free day to relax a little with a book on the beach of the Torres Straits or perhaps you may want to do a little bush walking. For those that are keen you can take a tropical cruise from the mainland across to Thursday Island or perhaps take in some fishing with a professional guide (both options a little extra).
Day 7 Cape York - Cape York (BLD)
Today is a very exciting day and a highlight of your Cape York tour as after visiting the Lockerbie Rain forest Scrubland and the township of Somerset on Albany Passage you will take an emotional walk to the very "tip" of mainland Australia - Cape York!
Day 8 Jardine River - Fruit Bat Falls - Wenlock River (BLD)
Across the mighty Jardine River we travel through Cape York's wilderness and on to Fruit Bat Falls for lunch and a swim in its pristine spring-fed waters. Continue on to our overnight camp at Moreton on the Wenlock River.
Day 9 Iron Range National Park - Chilli Beach (BLD)
Today we head east across the Wenlock and Pascoe Rivers to the fabulous Iron Range National Park (conditions permitting), Australia's largest remaining area of tropical lowland rainforest. The area is renown for its Eclectus Parrots, Palm Cockatoos, Magnificent Rifle Birds, Green (Condra) Pythons and Spotted Cuscus to name just a few. We camp in the rainforest or at Chili Beach.
Day 10 Portland Roads - Batavia Gold Fields (BL)
This morning we visit the tiny outpost of Portland Roads before returning to see other secrets hidden in the Iron Range rainforest. We leave the National Park through Tozers Gap and travel on to visit the historic Batavia gold fields. Onward to Archer River where we camp tonight.
Day 11 Coen - Jowalbinna (BLD)
South to Coen then on to the historic telegraph station of Musgrave. Continue to Jowalbinna Rock Art Safari Camp, an epicentre for Quinkan Rock Art over 30,000 years old in picturesque sandstone valleys. Camp at Jowalbinna tonight.
Day 12 Rock Art - Cooktown (BL)
A morning rock art exploration, delving into the traditional lives of the region's first inhabitants (optional). Travel to historic Cooktown and walk where Captain Cook once walked, enjoy Grassy Hill's spectacular views and relive the gold rush days strolling past heritage buildings. We camp near Cooktown tonight.
Day 13 Bloomfield Track - Cape Tribulation - Cairns (BL)
Visit eerie Black Mountain and the quaint Lion's Den Hotel this morning. Now 4WD adventure on the Bloomfield Track (conditions permitting) into the World Heritage Listed rainforests of Daintree and Cape Tribulation. Nearing the end we cross the Daintree River by cable ferry and continue on to Port Douglas or Cairns completing your fascinating adventure of discovery and fun in Australia's far north.
