This 1 day 4WD trip from Cairns to the historical Cooktown takes the visitor through scenic North Australian coastal route while the return is via flight savouring the spectacular aerial view of the Daintree Rainforest and the North Queensland coast. Ferry crossing of the Daintree River, drive through World Heritage Daintree Rainforest, and magnificent views of the Coral Sea and Endeavour River are some of the highlights of this 4WD Cairns Cooktown Day Tour.
You will travel in air conditioned 4WD vehicle during the northbound journey via Captain Cook Highway along the coast to Cooktown, Queensland. After crossing the Daintree River by cable ferry, you will be taken through the Daintree Rainforest well known for many rare plant and animal species that are near extinct. This Cooktown Day Trip continues through the mysterious Black Mountains after lunch in one of the oldest Aussie Bush Pubs, the Lions Den Hotel, established in 1875. The Bloomfield Track which is a 4WD only drive through river crossings and mountain climbs takes the visitors to Cooktown. A guided visit to the James Cook museum and other historic buildings of Cooktown follows. A 360 degree view of Cooktown, the Coral Sea and the Endeavour River is not to be missed by any visitor to the area.
The return trip late in the afternoon via a 45 minute flight gives additional 2 hours to be spent in Cooktown. The tour is conducted on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays starting from 7.00 AM to 6.30 PM. Complimentary hotel pick up and drop off at Cairns accommodation is included in the package.
