This one day Daintree rainforest bird watching tour is for both amateur and professional ornithologists alike. More than 90 species of birds can be spotted in this bird tour through the wet tropical lowland area to the Great Dividing Range and then to the dry Savannah country on the edge of the Outback. Visitors are taken through seven different bird habitats. This birding area in North Queensland is home to over half of Australia’s bird species.
Some of the regular sightings in this bird safari include Black Necked Stork, Galah, Kori Bustard, Pale Headed Rosella, Fig Parrot, Tawny Frogmouth, Scarlet Honeyeater, Blue Winged Kookaburra, Victoria’s Rifle Bird, Red Backed Fairy Wren, Great Bower Bird, Squatter Pigeon, and Osprey, butterflies as well as occasional marsupials. The tours are arranged on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from Port Douglas. Included in the package are morning and afternoon refreshments, lunch and binoculars. Reference books & insect repellent can be hired / purchased. The tour begins at 8.00am and ends at 5.00pm. Return transfers from Cairns are available at additional cost.
