Great Barrier Reef Island Code: fitzThe beautiful Fitzroy Islands are part of the Great Barrier Reef Islands and are only a 45 minutes ride in a catamaran from Cairns along the coast. The Great Barrier Reef Islands were once part of the mainland and were separated by raising sea waters many many years ago. These islands lie within the sprawling National Park area and are a walker's delight. Apart from a walk along the walking tracks of the pristine rainforest, visitors can enjoy the spectacular fringing corals and other marine life surrounding these islands. Snorkelling, kayaking, beach walk and diving to a nearby wreck are other activities which you can indulge in. It is an ideal resort for relaxing and enjoying the natural scenery. The Great Barrier Reef Tour package includes return boat transfers from the mainland.
