The beautiful Fitzroy Islands are part of the Great Barrier Reef Islands and are only a 45 minutes ride in a catamaran from Cairns along the coast. The Great Barrier Reef Islands were once part of the mainland and were separated by raising sea waters many many years ago. These islands lie within the sprawling National Park area and are a walker's delight. Apart from a walk along the walking tracks of the pristine rainforest, visitors can enjoy the spectacular fringing corals and other marine life surrounding these islands. Snorkelling, kayaking, beach walk and diving to a nearby wreck are other activities which you can indulge in. It is an ideal resort for relaxing and enjoying the natural scenery. The Great Barrier Reef Tour package includes coral viewing in glass bottomed boats, transfers to and from Cairns in high speed ferries, lavish Aussie BBQ lunch and coach transfers from accommodation in Cairns. People who have asthma, epilepsy, diabetes, heart issues or some other medical conditions may not be allowed to do an introductory dive.
