Morning Half Day Mt Lewis High Rainforest Birding Tour Code:FF5
This half day rainforest birding tour in Mount Lewis high rainforest is meant for birdwatchers interested in spotting birds that are endemic to higher elevations. Some of the bird species that visitors can encounter include Chowchillas, Mountain Thornbill, Fernwren, Toothbilled & Golden Bowerbirds, Atherton Scubwren, and the rare Blue faced Parrot Finch during December – March. This birding area within 100km radius in North Queensland is home to over half of Australia’s bird species.
The bird watching tour begins from the Julatten area in air conditioned 4WD vehicle. It is arranged on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays with departure from Port Douglas at 7.30am and return at 1.00pm. Included in the package are morning refreshments. Bbinoculars, reference books & insect repellent can be hired / purchased at additional cost. Return transfers to Cairns are also available at additional cost. The tour is arranged for small groups of 2 to 4 persons.
