Day 1 of your three day 4WD Cairns to Cooktown starts with a drive along one of the most beautiful coastal roads in Australia towards Cape Tribulation with an experienced rainforest guides to where you'll marvel at the undisturbed and magnificent World Heritage listed Daintree Cape Tribulation Rainforests. During your tour you will learn about some of the unusual fruits of the rainforest, hear some of the Aboriginal legends of the area, and top off the experience by sharing in a Daintree River wildlife spotting cruise. Lunch is served in the privacy of a rushing jungle stream canopy where you can go for a refreshing swim. After lunch visit a Botanical Boardwalk at either Mardja or Jindalba National Park to learn more about the world's most diverse and beautiful examples of Mother Nature. Late afternoon transfer to your Cape Tribulation accommodation, where you can enjoy the remainder of your day and evening at your leisure to explore this magical region.

Day 2 Start with a 4WD tour along the "Bloomfield Track", which is the Coastal Road and 4WD only road to Cooktown which allows you to travel through the heart of this World Heritage listed area providing incredible glimpses of Australia hard to imagine. Travel over rugged mountain ranges, river crossings, spot crocodiles and other Australian wildlife and fauna. Lunch today is at the Lions Den Hotel, one of North Queensland?s oldest running Bush Pubs dating back to 1875. After lunch it's back into the 4WD and your Cooktown tour continues to the mysterious Black Mountains which are steeped in Aboriginal legend before arriving mid afternoon in Cooktown. During the afternoon your guide will show you a 360 degree view from the famous Grassy Hill lookout in Cooktown before transferring you to your overnight Cooktown accommodation.

Day 3 of your tour gives you a day at leisure in Cooktown. Take the time to visit the James Cook Museum, wander the streets full of history, try some of the great fishing and chat to some friendly locals. Late this afternoon your 4WD tour will depart Cooktown for Cairns via the inland road, which is called the Mulligan Highway. This road will show you a diverse landscape made up of rainforest, mountain ranges and open plains giving you a fantastic view of the Outback of Far North Queensland Australia. Departs Cairns Sun & Wed at 7.00am returning Tue & Fri at 9.30pm.

After an early pick up from your Cairns accommodation the 4WD will travel along the coastal road from Cairns viewing the Coral Sea and tropical beaches. Climb the Rex Range to Mt Carbine and cross the Palmer River. Your tour will arrive in the historic town of Cooktown early afternoon where you can enjoy a guided tour of the city sights. Day 1 on your Cairns to Cooktown tour will see your 4WD tour travel north along one of Australia?s most scenic coastal routes towards the World Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest Cape Tribulation. Your day tour will cross the Daintree River by cable Ferry and take you on a journey through spectacular rainforest where your experienced guide will enlighten your every minute. As the 4WD tour continues towards Cooktown the 4WD vehicle will access the "Bloomfield Track". The Bloomfield Track will take you through some of the most rugged terrain in QLD, crossing rivers containing estuarine crocodiles and climb mountain ranges with views of the Great Barrier Reef. Enroute stop for lunch at the acclaimed Lion's Den Hotel, which dates back to 1875 and is one of QLD's oldest running Bush Pubs. After lunch your day tour continues on to the unique geological oddity, which is Black Mountain, surrounded in mystery and spoken of in ancient Aboriginal legend. Late in the afternoon your 4WD tour arrives in Cooktown where you will have a brief tour of Grassy Hill lookout before being taken to your Cooktown accommodation.

Day 2 gives you a morning in Cooktown where you can walk where Captain Cook walked and touch the sand where "Endeavour" was beached. Take some time to visit the James Cook Museum, wander along the main street of Cooktown which has charm, historical atmosphere and unspoilt beauty much like Cook knew it in 1770. Walking trails surround Cooktown with most attractions within easy walking distance of your Cooktown accommodation. After lunch board your 4WD for the return journey Cooktown Cairns, which is via the inland road called the Mulligan Highway. This road travels through the outback of Far North Queensland where many years ago other travellers used the same route heading for the Goldfields of QLD Australia. Cooktown Tour If you have only 1 day to visit Cooktown from Cairns then this is definitely the best way to tour!

After and early morning pick up in Cairns by a purpose built 4WD vehicle you will travel north along the coast road towards Port Douglas and the World Heritage Listed areas of the Daintree Rainforest Cape Tribulation. Take some special photos as the tour bus crosses the famous Daintree River by cable barge that is many years old. Once across the Daintree River you will experience many spectacular examples of ancient Rainforest and white sandy beaches that come right up to the base of the forest. Often Australian wildlife is spotted and if you are luck you may even see a crocodile in the wild! During the day your experienced guide will enlighten your journey with incredible stories and history as you continue on the 4WD only -Bloomfield Track. This track will take you through some of the most rugged terrain in the Queensland country. The 4WD will cross rivers, climb mountain ranges with views of the Great Barrier Reef and pass waterfalls. For lunch the 4WD tour will stop at the famous Lion's Den Hotel which has been operating since 1875 and is one of North Queensland's oldest running bush pubs. Next stop is the eerie and unique geological oddity, which is Black Mountain, surrounded in mystery and spoken of in ancient Aboriginal legend your guide will tell you some of the many stories. Mid afternoon the 4WD arrives into Cooktown where your guide will show you the best 360 degree view from Cooktown at the Grassy Hill lookout. This Cooktown tour offers you up to 2 hours of free time to explore the museum, historical building and wharf areas of Cooktown. Take a stroll down the main street and feel this history of this area where you can walk on the very spot that Captain Cook beached his ship so many years ago! Day 2 - (BLD) - Cooktown to Jowalbinna Depart Cooktown and travel west into the savannah, stopping at Lakeland Downs for an opportunity to sample locally grown coffee. In Laura visit the Quinkan Region Cultural Centre for an insight into the land and its people. A 4WD track will take you into Jowalbinna, the epicentre of QuinkanERock Art for outback hospitality. You'll be inspired by this afternoon's rock art walk. This body of work is rated by UNESCO as one of the top ten rock art regions in the world. Your guide will explain the significance of these artworks, the traditional lifestyle of the Aboriginal people and the conservation initiatives to preserve these national treasures. Later relax with a refreshing swim in a bush creek or simply enjoy the peace of this remote outback location. In the evening relax by the campfire. Day 3 - (BL) - Jowalbinna to Cairns Rise to a morning chorus of Kookaburras and Blue-faced Honeyeaters, two of over fifty bird species here. Enjoy breakfast in the bush and a relaxed morning where you can choose to throw a boomerang, take a self guided walk or paint your own canvas. Depart Jowalbinna and head through the outback landscape to lunch at a friendly Aussie roadhouse. Cross the Great Dividing Range and leave the termite mounds and beef cattle country to descend the rainforest clad mountains. Meet the coast once again, returning to Port Douglas or Cairns.
