Tropical North Queensland is well serviced by major Domestic & International airline carriers with our Cairns airports reflecting the many moods of our lifestyle throughout the terminals. Our smaller regional airlines service remote communities such as Weipa, Cooktown and Karumba. They transport personnel to mine sites, valuable medical and food supplies, through to delivering the daily mail.

Buses/Coaches

Regular day and night bus schedules can quickly move you around the city and major shopping centres. Onward trips can take you to our popular Northern Beaches area, particularly Palm Cove, where the coastline just seems to go on forever.

You can also visit Port Douglas, the Atherton Tablelands and magic Mission Beach after a short, relaxing bus ride.

By chartering your own transport e.g. mini-bus, a driver can be provided or you may drive yourself and your team or guests. This allows total freedom to follow your own itinerary, whether it be to a sporting event or to a wedding.

Our scheduled express coaches include well-known Greyhound and McCaffertys. Their services cover a considerable network of roads throughout Australia that will suit most travellers advance travel plans. Now for something really different, we can reserve you on "Oz Experience." These brightly coloured, comfortable coaches take their happy passengers down those back roads and to those off-beat, way out places that no discerning bus would ever go!!

Rental Vehicles

A popular way to tour at your leisure is to Rent-A-Vehicle. We can reserve one of the many types of quality vehicles available, ranging from a comfortable family sedan, a 4WD for that off-road/get close to nature adventure, a campervan or motorhome to that little red convertible you always dreamed about. Now if you really want to slow down the pace - we can hire you a driver with horse and cart!

Our roads are relatively easy to navigate with traffic density at a low rate except during our brief peak hour periods. Once on our sealed highways travelling south of Cairns, west to the beautiful Atherton Tablelands or north to the Daintree, you can let the wind whistle through your hair and shift into cruise control.

Trains

You must visit our ultra-modern train station at Cairns Central. The envy of the larger cities, it is equipped with the most upmarket technology in Australia. Departures include "The Queenslander", "Spirit of the Tropics" and the new ultra-fast "Tilt Train" to Brisbane. Onward connections are easily linked in from Brisbane, transporting you to new sights and new people to meet!

For a step back in time, hop on the "Savannahlander" and head for the mining town of Forsyth. This railmotor journey of discovery takes you to the historic outback where you see and hear stories of how life was back in the good ol' days.
